New Shoes

In an expensive coincidence, five–FIVE–pairs of my regular shoes are crossing the 300-mile mark and quickly headed for 350. In one pair, I’ve completely worn away the heel padding and now there’s something that scrapes the back of my foot. Two others are dead, but I’m forcing them to keep going a little while longer while I contemplate replacements. And the “newest” two pair are showing their wear in ways that are annoying, but can maybe keep going for another couple of months. Stay tuned for some hellos and goodbyes as I update my rotation. <fingers crossed>

I bought a pair of Skechers Ultra R after reading a number of glowing reviews and they’re not bad at short distances either. Of course, I bought them for ultras. They are quite narrow in the toebox compared to my other shoes. I wore them for a 30-miler and had numerous problems, eventually cutting away part of the shoe over my right pinky toe. I still ended up with a black toenail. I’ve never had a black pinky toenail before. 🙁 Read More
